Tell us your story/detailed overview

Watooka House commonly referred to as the Watooka Guest House is an early 20th century colonial three-storey building. During the early 1900s, the building which was then privately owned was bought and renovated by the Demerara Bauxite Company (DEMBA) to accommodate its managers. In the 1940s, the building was named after the nearby Watooka Creek. The front façade of the edifice faces the Demerara River, whilst access can be gained by land from Casuarina Drive, Watooka, Mackenzie. Architectural features on the first and second floors include the wide overhangs, enclosed corridors on most facades, extended galleries, dormers and jalousie windows. The guest house has a pool which was once considered one of the finest in the country.
